　　How to Set Your Lesson Aims?

　　I always start my lesson plan aims with ' By the end of the lesson, learners will be better able to... *

　　Moreover, I use the following criteria to set the aim：

　　(1) Required by syllabus/curriculum

　　Remember to stay within the rules of the curriculum that your school lays out. There's no point getting into trouble by deviating wildly.

　　(2)Learner-Centred

　　Think of my learners! What topic and context will they find engaging? What level of language will be challenging but achievable?

　　(3)Specific

　　Time to be specific. What exactly do I want them to learn? Remember the four layers of language from ' How to Set a Context' ? What is the function and form you will ask learners to use?

　　(4)Observable

　　Pm not a mind reader. Just because I teach it, it doesn't mean that students have learned it. I need to make sure I know what I'm going to see, or hear, that will tell me if my learners are better able to do what I want them to.
